About

Who we are!

Mothers Opposed to Violence Everywhere organizes women of all ages, some whose husband, children and siblings are victims of gun violence, some who themselves were victims of gun domestic violence, to create both community and in- home programs that will minimize the growing violence in North Lawndale community of Chicago and beyond.

M.O.V.E emerged from the efforts of a group of North Lawndale Pastors whose female congregants have been directly affected by gun violence.  The pastors, members of Clergy Committed to Community, have engaged these women to build an anti- violence initiative in the face of a growing number of shooting and murders of more and more youth on Chicago’s west side.

M.O.V.E organizes men, women of all ages, children and siblings that are victims of gun violence, missing and murdered women and girls, health care, affordable housing, education and jobs. We strive to create sustainable communities for all

M.O.V.E., in cooperation with local churches, in 2009 began a process of establishing Volunteer Youth Engagement and Empowerment Centers in North Lawndale, Although there are a number of after-school programs in our area, there are very few weekends drop-in program for our youth.
